With a mere 49 days left until the transfer window closes, Manchester United fans are getting decidedly antsy over their club’s apparent lack of activity in the summer meat market. Dan James has arrived from Swansea for £17m and reports suggest young Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be rocking up at Old Trafford once England’s interest in the European U-21 Championships ends, but the club’s supporters want to see more incomings and outgoings sooner rather than later.
Harry Maguire has been a long-time target of United’s but looks likely to ignore their overtures if rumours that Manchester City have arranged an appointment for him to cough for their doctor turn out to hold any water. United have continually balked at paying a fee north of £75m for the Leicester defender and it seems City are prepared to pull the rug from under their feet as they continue to dither.
With United’s players due to convene for training ahead of the new season on 1 July before heading off on a tour of Australia and Asia, the club remain hopeful of enticing midfielders Declan Rice and Sean Longstaff from West Ham and Newcastle respectively, while the agent of Sporting attacker Bruno Fernandes is reported to be in Manchester to talk turkey about a move to Old Trafford for his client. Speculation elsewhere suggests he has also spoken to Spurs.

Tottenham’s dogged pursuit of Lyon central midfielder Tanguy Ndombélé could be coming to an end, what with the north London club reported to be increasingly confident of landing their man by the end of the month. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claims his club have received several bids for the 22-year-old, with representatives of both Manchester City and United also believed to be gyrating lasciviously in a bid to attract the player’s attention. “We have lots of offers but they do not come up to the price we feel is right, said Aulas in a party political broadcast to L’Equipe, before announcing that one-time Liverpool target Nabil Fekir is also leaning towards a move elsewhere.
Meanwhile in Spain, Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo is being courted by Liverpool, who would have to trigger a £45m release clause to land the 22-year-old. Following the departure of Alberto Moreno for pastures new and yet to be confirmed, Firpo would provide cover for Andy Robertson. Across the Atlantic, Real Salt Lake’s diminutive Venezuelan winger Jefferson Savarino is wanted by West Ham and Tottenham and could be available for a cut-price £6m.
And finally, Matt Clarke is ready to swap one south coast seaside town for another by moving from Portsmouth to Brighton. The 22-year-old will undergo a medical with the Premier League club today before a £5m deal is signed, sealed and delivered.

WEST HAM will make an ambitious £35million move for England striker Callum Wilson this summer.
The Bournemouth striker, 27, is wanted by Manuel Pellegrini as Celta Viga forward Maxi Gomez looks set to stay in Spain with Valencia.
Wilson is now the Hammers’ No1 target to bolster their forward line ahead of the new season, with Pellegrini looking to freshen up his attack.
They have been long-term admirers of the ex-Coventry star, who has been a consistent goalscorer when fully fit in the last four years since promotion in Eddie Howe’s team.
He battled back from two serious knee injuries to earn his first England caps last season when Gareth Southgate rewarded his form with a call-up.
Howe will have the final say on whether Wilson would be allowed to leave the Vitality Stadium.
With three years left on his current deal, there is no risk of the Three Lions striker losing value - and a deal is likely to rest on Bournemouth getting offered the right package to tempt them into selling.
Pellegrini would have Wilson leading his attack in a summer revamp at London Stadium.
Javier Hernandez will be allowed to leave, with Valencia and Galatasaray interest, while Jordan Hugill could return to Preston.
Andy Carroll has left the club after his contract expired and Marko Arnautovic was unsettled last season amid interest from China.

Dramatic developments in Spain push West Ham closer to signing Maxi Gomez
There have been some dramatic striker developments in Spain and it all pushes West Ham front and centre for Maxi Gomez.
The slant in the Spanish media has been that Gomez wants to move to Valencia, they very much want him, and it was just a matter of time before Celta Vigo accepted a proposal.
We covered claims three days ago that West Ham have agreed personal terms with the Uruguayan, and it sounded like they were a back-up option.
Still, with Celta wanting Valencia’s Santi Mina, it was figured it’d all get sorted out in the wash.
Well, everything is now up in the air.
Valencia, tired of Celta pointing at the €50m clause and demanding close to it, have moved on to Borja Iglesias. He was thought to be leaving Espanyol for Real Betis.
Betis are willing to pay his €28m buyout clause, but want to do it in instalments, which isn’t going down well.
Mundo Deportivo reports that ‘complicated negotiations’ with Celta are leading Valencia to ‘start forgetting’ about Gomez, and they’ve moved on to Iglesias.
Celta themselves are now being linked with Nolito by Faro de Vigo.
All of this can only help West Ham sign Gomez, a player they’ve been targeting since the winter transfer window.
Club have upped their offer to sign West Ham player, hope to agree personal terms
Fanatik have today reported on another update with regards to West Ham United’s Javier Hernandez and a potential move to Galatasaray.
The Turkish newspaper claims Galatasaray have upped their offer to €3.5m per season for the Mexican and are currently waiting on Hernandez’s answer.
Yesterday it was reported the Super Lig side had offered the West Ham forward €3m, and that he was holding out for €4m.
Gala manager Fatih Terim is reportedly keen to work with the player as he sees Hernandez as the perfect fit for his team.
Galatasaray are hoping they can convince him with their latest offer despite the forward demanding €4m. Once they agree personal terms with the player, talks will be opened with West Ham.
It’s also claimed they want to sign Hernandez on a free transfer, given he just has one year on his contract with the Hammers.
Last season the 31 year old made 25 appearances for West Ham in the Premier League, scoring 7 goals.
